According to the NSW Government, strata by-laws are rules that all residents in a scheme must follow, and owners corporations often adopt the government’s model by-laws. The model by-law on moving furniture through common property requires an owner or occupier to give the strata committee enough notice to have its nominee present.

Ask the building manager which hours moves are allowed and whether the lift must be booked.
Ask whether lift padding is provided or needs to be brought in.
Find out whether there is a loading dock, its height clearance, and how far it is from the lift.

Street parking near the harbour can be tight, with resident parking areas, meters and clearways to work around.
