Two in every three Liverpool homes are apartments, more than half have two bedrooms, and over six in ten households rent. On those numbers, a rented two bedroom unit is the most common starting point for a Liverpool move, so lifts, stairwells and strata notice come up often. Apartment moves with removalists Liverpool buildings expect

Strata buildings have rules about furniture in shared areas. Model by-law 13 in the NSW Strata Schemes Management Regulation 2016 says nothing large is to be moved through common property until the strata committee has had sufficient notice to arrange for someone to be present. Many buildings adopt their own version, so a short checklist helps:

• Ask your strata or building manager what notice they need, and whether the lift needs protective padding or a booked time.
• Find out where a truck can stop, and how far it is from there to your front door.
• Send us the time window, the floor number and the lift details, at both the old and the new address.

For a typical one or two bedroom unit we usually start with our 4 to 5 tonne truck, which holds 20 to 25 cubic metres.

Liverpool roads and the removal truck

Two local rules matter for a moving truck, and both appear on Liverpool City Council’s roads, traffic and parking page.

• Light traffic roads. Some Liverpool roads carry a three tonne load limit. A vehicle with a tare weight above three tonnes cannot use them unless it has a destination on that road or no alternate route exists. If you live on one, the truck may still come to your door; if you only live near one, it may need to come in a different way, which we plan for.
• The one hour rule. Council notes that a vehicle with a GVM over 4.5 tonnes, or longer than 7.5 metres, cannot park in a built-up area for longer than one hour. Under the NSW Road Rules, that limit does not apply while the driver is dropping off or picking up goods, which is what a loading crew is doing.

Tell us about steep driveways, narrow streets or a long walk from the kerb. Where access will add time to a fixed price move, for example a long carry or nowhere to park, you hear about it from us in advance.
