Unit blocks and strata rules in Cronulla

With nearly three in four Cronulla homes being flats or apartments, most moves involve a strata building. The NSW Government page on strata by-laws explains that by-laws are rules every resident in a strata scheme must follow, and that tenants should get a copy from their landlord or agent. Because high rise flats began replacing guest houses in the 1950s, some Cronulla blocks are older strata schemes. For schemes registered before 1996, the pre-1996 standard by-laws say an owner or occupier must not move furniture or a large object through or on common property without first giving the strata committee enough notice to have its nominee present. Your building’s registered by-laws may be different, so check early.

Parking a removal truck in Cronulla

Parking is the other half of a beachside move. Sutherland Shire Council’s trade parking permits exempt a trade vehicle from time limits such as 1P, 2P and 4P, but they do not cover No Stopping, No Parking, Loading Zone or Clearway areas, they do not guarantee a space, and they are not valid on State roads. Council’s list of State roads includes the Kingsway from the Princes Highway at Kirrawee to Gerrale Street in Cronulla, and it asks for two business days to process a permit.
